Nothing more alive than this Moment

Long time, no see.

I’m so happy to be writing this blog post. It’s amazing how much can happen, only to realize that nothing matters as much as this moment.

Even though what has happened is amazing, there’s nothing more alive than this moment.

Right now, I’m sitting in our little sunroom, which I’ve been taking care of for a little while now. As some of you know, I do not like hot weather, and since we are in August, I bought a little misting fan and I’m trying my best. So, I’m drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying my time writing here—however much time that may be, haha.

In my effort to enjoy summer—I started this back in my beloved tiny town in Oregon—I began planting flowers for the butterflies and bees. I also started feeding the hummingbirds by preparing their food daily.

Now, in this sunny land, I’ve planted tomatoes, peppers, herbs that my beautiful neighbor gave me, flowers, and all my usual plants. I’m still making hummingbird food and buying lots of food for the chubby squirrels that feel more than comfortable in our backyard, as well as food for the cardinals, mourning doves, and a ton of other cute little birds I’m not very familiar with yet. But hubby bought me a pamphlet with information about the birds in the area, and I also got an app that helps identify them and their beautiful songs.

We also have a black-and-white cat in our front yard every night and an extremely fluffy, chubby black cat in the backyard every morning. We’ve had a possum and an armadillo, too.

And by “we have,” I mean they are comfortable enough around our little house, and we are blessed to be able to witness their lives.

So, if you know me, you know I’m happiest when surrounded by animals. I’d love to have them cozying up in my bed while I watch documentaries. But I know, I know...

Also, I’ve been reading a lot about flowers. I wasn’t expecting this place to be as magical as it is—so green and full of life. There are tons of flowers everywhere, so colorful and different from what I’ve seen so far. I feel very inspired by them.

They also bring a lot of insects, which historically haven’t been my cup of tea. But lately, I’ve been liking some of them. I’ve always loved bees, but now I’m putting together a little recreational space for those garden lizards—I’m sure they’re not actually called that, though. I’ve become friendlier with spiders too. Oh, and butterflies. I never liked butterflies before, but now I see them differently. We have tons and tons of butterflies in our garden. They fly all over Ophelia, and I can’t tell you enough what an adorable image that is.

I have to confess, everything has been wonderful. The art world here is vast, and the artists I’ve met are wonderful and kind—happy and welcoming. My studio is super hot these days, so I’ve been painting a little less there and a bit more in the guest room. I have three commissions in progress right now, and I’m working on my Green Era Collection. It’s mutating: the same tone, but another flavor of magic is sneaking into the canvases.

I’d love to keep talking to you about all these wonders, but I think this post is already too long, lol.

I should get back to posting here every Monday, right? Let me know if you’re still interested, and please feel free to share this with your loved ones—or whoever you think might enjoy these calm, artsy, spiritual, fun vibes.

Love you, my amigos del internet!
